Welcome Home

On tuesday we left an hour and  half early from work so we could get up to the Salt Lake Airport to see one of Hunter's favorite mission companions, Elder Huntsman, come home from Detroit :) We Got to the airport at about 4:15 when his plane was suppose to land. But we were in the wrong terminal so we saw a ton of other missionaries greet their families. After calling his dad we found them and talked for a long time and then his parents invited us to go to their house up in Layton, then to their stake center to see him get released and then out to dinner. It was such an amazing experience being there and hearing all the different stories of their mission while they were companions. They went through a lot together since Elder Huntsman was hit by a car while Hunter was his companion. So before he was release the Stake president asked Hunter to tell us what exactly happened. So Hunter told the story and it was spiritual moment for everyone in the room. Knowing that God watches over his missionaries and that He is the reason why the accident wasn't worse and that he only walked away with a few scrapes and bruises.

Right before he was released the first thing he did was get on his dirt bike.. of course. :) Now Hunter will probably bring it up casually to beg me to let him get one.. maybe one day!

After he was released we went to Texas Roadhouse... It was soo good!! It was an entertaining dinner when the waiter brought me a refill for my drink and I thought there was a piece of lettuce in it so I looked at the cup and in bright green permanent marker it said "poop" on the side. Everyone on the table was laughing and when the waiter came back he asked if there was something wrong with my drink cause he noticed we were all looking at it weird. So we showed him and he laughed and apologized and said that was embarrassing.

It was such a fun night meeting new people and seeing two friends reunite and tell stories :) It was worth the really long day!

Welcome Home!!

Winners

Last night Hunter and I went to our work party in high hopes of winning something from the raffle they were doing... but did we win anything?

Yes we sure did! We won the Xbox 360 with kinect. We were really excited that we won something even though we are selling it cause we probably wouldn't play it that often and would rather have the money to save :)

The Proposal

Warning: Extremely LONG post! (but its worth the read)

Before I tell the proposal story I will go into a little detail about some issues we had in getting my wedding ring. Hunter started making payments in it in early October and they had to send it to New York and then over seas to get some alterations that I wanted on it. They could have done it themselves in store but they decided it would be best to send it over seas to be altered, which was fine cause they said it shouldn't take too get it done. But weeks and weeks went by and we never received a call on the ring and my mom wouldn't let me do any plans for the wedding unless we got engaged. So I started getting stressed out on wedding planning. After Hunter called many times they told us that my ring was LOST over seas and they had no idea where it was. They called the wearhouse in New York and they didn't know where it was and had known for a month that it was lost. So they said it would take a few months for them to make another one and do the alterations. We were furious. I got over it and knew that it would happen when it was suppose to, I was just upset at not being able to make any plans for the wedding. We found this out just the day before Hunter proposed..... now on with the proposal story :)

On November 30, 2010 Hunter was texting me asking if I wanted to go to temple square that night. Of course I said yes because we had been planning on going for a long time since I had only seen the lights there maybe three or four times in my life. I was really excited since I hadn't seen the lights very many times. We left up to Salt Lake and once we got there we decided to stop and have dinner at Wendy's. We went in and ordered our food and I went and sat down... and I wish I would have chosen a different spot. There were about six homeless men who were all drunk. It was a lovely experience when Hunter walked up to get our food and one of them started talking about how they wanted to shoot Hunter's face off because he looked at him. He continued to say stuff like he had a gun and would beat him up or kill him if he looked at him again. I felt sick to my stomach and just wanted to leave. Hunter finally came and sat down next to me and the homeless man struck up a conversation with Hunter asking what his problem was. Hunter obviously wasn't scared at all like I was considering he spent his two year mission in Detroit where he had a gun pointed at his face among other things.. so these guys were nothing compared to what Hunter is use to dealing with. Hunter was really nice and not scared at all but they guy was still mad and threatening him. Once the homeless men got their food they left us alone for a little while and then one of the homeless mans friends came up to us and apologized and said he had a lot to drink and they were trying to get some coffee in him so he would calm down. He said they would try and control him and he should be swearing in front of a lady. I hurried and ate as fast as I could so we could leave and go to temple square. As we were leaving Hunter went up and ordered a bowl of chili and had one of the workers deliver it to the homeless man. (Hunter is always doing nice things like that for people.. he is the greatest.) The workers were really scared to take it to them because he was really rude to them too. But we left and watched them deliver it to him.

Finally we arrived to temple square and walked around for a bit.. Hunter said that he had to go to the bathroom so we walked over to the bathroom and I waited for him and when he came out He kept his hand in the left pocket of his coat the whole time and I kept walking on his left side trying to stick my hand in his pocket to hold his hand. He kept switching to the other side of me and I kept going back to his left pocket trying to hold his hand, but I didn't expect anything of it. We walked around for a little while and then he said lets get closer to it... so we walked closer to the temple and went up to the top of the stairs and just stood there talking for a few minutes, then I turned around to walk down the stairs and Hunter said, "Kelli..." so I turned around and there he was on one knee with the ring box in hand.. the first thing I said..."You Liar!!" cause I thought for sure he had lied about what happened with the ring getting lost. So then he said a couple things that made me feel like crying and said "Kelli, will you marry me.." and of course I said yes. Then he hugged  and decided to leave then. We left drove home and were both really excited texting everyone and telling them. I wouldn't have wanted him to propose in any other way.

After he proposed it was so funny talking about why he went to the bathroom... to get the ring out of the pocket on the inside of his coat and put it in the left pocket of his coat that I kept putting my hand in trying to hold his hand. He thought I felt the ring box and thought I knew he was Planning on proposing the  whole night. But I had no idea :)

Thanksgiving Weekend

Before I talk about Thanksgiving I will talk a little bit about Brian and MaKenzie's wedding. It was on November 19th. And of course the weeks before it was "suppose" to snow every weekend but never did. About 10 o'clock the night before down came the snow. We all got up really early in case of ice or accidents on the freeway. Turned out there was just a few inches of snow and no ice, so we made it to the temple almost two hours early and it was a beautiful sunny day! I won't go into to many details on it right now.. but once there are pictures I will post those and write more on details of the wedding :) but here are a few for now...

We got his car good :) I wish we had a picture of the back of it, it was the best part :)

Caught Brian in the act....

THANKSGIVING

We started off thanksgiving morning with a trip to Golds Gym.. we worked all the food off before it got to us :) and yes we do look lovely.

We spent Thanksgiving with Hunter's family since my parents were in California with my moms family there and Kari went to Arizona to spend it with Brian's family. We went to Hunter's Grandma's house and had a delicious meal. My favorite part was the little turkeys on the table.. one day I want to try and make creative treats like that...

We spent the rest of thanksgiving eating pies and watching movies and just spending time with family :)

We also saw three movies over the weekend.

and my ABSOLUTE favorite........

They did such an amazing job on breaking dawn. I don't think they could have changed one thing to make it better. I would go and see it over and over again if my husband would let me ;) but for now I will have to wait till it comes on DVD or Red box.

Old Job... New Job

For the past two years and six months I have worked for KFC and A&W. Despite the embarrassment of working there i've had for the past seven months or so. I absolutely loved this job. It was amazing for high school being able to work nights and having an extremely flexible job. Not to mention working 40 hours a week for my junior and senior year in high school. I still don't know how I did it and was able to get good grades in school. Here are some lovely pictures :)
Who knew I would get a CHAMPS card for this?! I was very clumsy when I worked there.
In our spare time at worked we liked to try and fit in small boxes or fridges and take pictures :)
I absolutely loved this job while I worked for it but after being married it isn't the best way to bring in money. So after graduating Dental Assisting school I have spent almost six months trying to find a job dental assisting. About five or six interviews later... still no job. The phone call always ended like this "we found someone with two years working experience." But really how am I suppose to get experience if no one will hire me?! After a lot of frustration I decided to just find any other job while still interning and looking for a job as a dental assistant.
The day we had a photoshoot, getting my teeth cleaned and pretending to study :)
My new job is at ROI Solutions, the same place Hunter works. They had a new campaign start up so they hired about 35 new people...
Now I work for Moultrie feeders which sells deer feeders, fish feeders, and trail cameras to take pictures of deer or anything else that walks by. A lot of people use them as security for their homes. Some people are lucky and get pictures like this.....
So people call in when something on their camera isn't working and we troubleshoot the problem and help them fix it. We also will do orders on line for them :) We deal with a lot of people in the southern states that we call "Bubba" who is a southern older person who doesn't know how to use technology ;) Here are some fun phone calls we've had so far...
Bubba: I've put the batteries in and the SD card and I can't get the dang thing to turn on!!!!
CS agent: did you press the power button?
Bubba: awwwww shi*
(If you are wondering, yes he forgot to press the power button)
Bubba: I can't get the camera to turn on.
CS agent: Look at the batteries and make sure they are all put in correctly cause if one is in the wrong way the camera wont turn on.
Bubba: well I put them in there right so it should be turning on!
CS agent: Check the batteries cause that is most likely what it is.
Bubba: aww man I hate to say this but it worked.. you were right.
Bubba: the camera took six pictures in one day and it hasn't taken any in 24 hours!
CS agent: have you ever thought that maybe an animal didn't walk by?
Bubba: oh I didn't think of that...
Most of the phone calls in the day go like that so it is entertaining but sometimes very annoying when they wont try what you're telling them. Or they don't even have the camera with them and they say it isn't working yet they left it in the woods three hours away when they know its not working.. how are we suppose to help them fix it?! Overall I love it, it is really easy and entertaining....
So this is me until I get a dental assisting job :)

One Year

No we haven't been married for a year... but it has been a year since we met. To some of you that might seem crazy that we are married and had not even known each other for a year. But when its love, there's nothing you can do about it:)
Hunter got home from his mission from Detroit on June 23, 2010. On that day my sister texted me and said she wanted to set me up with somone. She has set me up before and it didn't go so well ;) So I said I don't know.. and she said it was her friend Nicole & Jay's brother and she said he just returned home from a mission (yay!) and sent me this picture...
How could I say no to that!?!? So I said "Yes Please!!" After a few weeks of not hearing anything about going on a date or anything I was bummed out. Let's face it.. he is such a good lookin man! Then one day I was working a 12 hour shift at work and finally was able to go one break. I grabbed my phone and saw that I had a text message from a new number.. It said Hi Kelli, this is Hunter Chamberlain... and thats all I had to see and I was so excited!! He just said a little bit about himself and what he likes to do and I remember feeling bad because that text was from five hours ago... so I texted back hoping he would text real soon! He tells me now that he didn't think that I would text him back at all because it had been so long. We texted for awhile that day and were trying to set up a date but my work schedule was so crazy working 6 days a week. (after we were engaged and talked about how we met he said he didn't believe that I actually worked those hours and thought I was just putting off going out with him... not true :) ) Then a week or two later we set up a date for Friday August 13, 2010. We met at my sister Kari's house and I was hoping he wasn't there yet.. but he was. One look at him and I fell in love instantly. We ate pizza then played a mario game on the nintendo. which Hunter and I lost everytime. Then we randomly decided to go see knight and day. We rode over to the theatre in his car and before we got in and he went to the drivers side and I was thinking he wasn't going to open the door for me, but then he said Dont touch that door!! And I stopped not sure what he was meaning and Hunter walked around to the passenger side of the car and opened it for me. Hunter thought I didn't like him at all, and neither did the other couple that was there. But walking into the movie theatre I wasn't sure if Hunter would pay for me or not, so I was talking to Kari telling her I didn't have money and she said she would pay for me if he didn't. But sure enough he did pay for the both of us. The whole movie Kari kept nudging me and telling me to hold his hand or lay on his shoulder. And believe me I wanted to.. and Hunter says he did to. But we didn't. We left the movie and dropped me off at Kari's house.. we did one of those side hugs with a person you just met and he said he had a lot of fun and we should do it again real soon, and I agreed. But I was wondering if it would really happen or not. After this day we never missed a day of texting.. aside for the two weeks he left me to go hunting. It's funny talking about how we both knew that we were going to get married because I went to work and talked to my friend Whitney and she said what if you guys got married.. and I said its not if... its when. And Hunter talked to his friend Jeremy the night after and said that he was going to marry me. So this is a story of Love at first sight.. if you don't believe in love at first sight, you should. Cause thats how we fell in love :)
Sorry for the long post.. but this blog is acting as our journal :) And I dont want to forget any details.

Air Conditioning

In an earlier post I mentioned how we learned we didn't have air conditioning in our apartment. All summer long it has been 80 degree's everyday, if not warmer. So a few weeks ago we couldn't take the heat anymore and we called home depot to see if they would give us a refund on our swamp cooler we bought. When we first bought it the guy told us we would love it and it would keep our whole place nice and cool, but during the conversation on the phone the guy said that the little swamp cooler works good for a house that already has air conditioning but not to cool down a whole apartment. That would have been nice to know before we bought it... people should just be honest instead of just trying to make a sale. :) Then we went to sears and plugged in two different air conditioners. A frigidaire and a Kenmore. After trying them both out we decided on the Kenmore. It was blowing out freezing air. So we took it home and installed it.
How hot it was before....

Installing the Air conditioner

This is how cool it stays now :)
We absolutely love our new air conditioner!! It's so nice to actually wrap up in a blanket and still feel cold. Thank you to my dad who went with us to Home Depot, Sear's, and back to our apartment to help set it up!!

Home Run Durby

I know I haven't blogged in awhile but my computer was broken for a few weeks and finally took it in and got it fixed. Then once I got it back just a few days later the hard drive crashed and I lost everything on my computer. But it is fixed completely now. :)
About a week ago we went to what we thought was an orem owlz baseball game. When we got there, there was hardly anyone there. We walked in and they said that there was no game but a homerun derby. It started at 7 and it was about 6:45 at this time so we hurry and drove home and grabbed Hunter's glove and shoes and mitt. We got there just a few minutes after seven and they still let us enter. So Hunter's mom and my mom came and we waited for him to hit. It seemed like the littlest kids entered and no one had hit a home run yet. Then my cute husband gets up and hits one :) We were so excited and were cheering so loud, a few other people got up but they didn't hit any out either. The wind was so strong this night. Then this guy gets up and hits one as well so him and Hunter were tied for first. This guy that hit one use to be on the Salt lake bee's baseball team.
With a tie they let every one else hit five times to see if someone could be in third. Then Hunter got up and hit three out and one was a foul ball but went over both of the fences! Then The salt lake bee's player got up and didn't hit any... so that meant the HUNTER WON!!
It was such a fun night watching him hit and win. I can't wait to watch him play baseball again soon :)

Our Apartment: After

This is our apartment now! After two weeks of non stop work on it everyday it was finally finished and we moved all our stuff in. It was a lot of work but it was fun and it makes it feel like home. Here it is....
This is the new soap dish :)

We put in new towels racks, toilet paper holder and shower curtain.

New mirror.

Painted both bedrooms that had patches all over.

Painted the front room brown.

This is where the water damage was

Our cute pantry!!

New blinds

Hunter's duck....

Something else about the apartment... not only was it newly remodeled... but it also said it had air conditioning. When we asked her if it did she said yes. Then once it started getting really warm we couldn't figure out how to work it so we asked our neighbors. It turns out it doesn't have air conditiong. We weren't too happy about that, but now we have this to keep our place cool :)

Our Apartment: Before

I haven't written a blog post in almost a month, so I decided that I need to do better at writing a blog posts and I have made a goal of posting once a week. Hopefully I will do it more than that though. This post is about our apartment. When we first found this apartment we loved it!! But we noticed that there were a lot of things wrong with it, even though KSL said it was "Newly Remodeled". So when we met with manager we told her all the things wrong with it and she didn't seem to care and wanted us to move in the next week. On top of that she said that we had to pay first and last months rent when at first she told us only the deposit. Then Hunter had another meeting with her and she wasn't even there so the one who actually owns that apartment came out and had Hunter come in. He was so nice! He told us we didn't need to pay first and last months rent until those months came, he said we didn't have to move in until April 1, and agreed to pay Hunter to fix up the place :) So we spent everyday for two weeks at our apartment painting, cleaning, fixing things, putting new things in and moving in :) This is what the apartment looked like before...

This is the nasty soap dish. One of the many things we brought up to her and she told us that we could buy spray paint to make it look better instead of getting a new one. Sick.

Most of the light switch covers were missing.

This was the kitchen floor.

This light switch was taped on.

The broken mirror.

Water damage.. you could run your finger down the wall and paint would just come off!

Cleaning!

All the blinds were broken.

The process of remodeling.

This was our apartment before we made all the fixes.. it was a lot of hard work! But we really enjoyed it!! We spent over forty hours working on making it our home. Thank you to everyone who helped us fix this place up.. the person we should thank the most is my dad. He just knows how to fix everything and he was over there everyday helping us! The next blog post will be our apartment how it is now :)
